Our Speakers

Anna Nowak

Anna has 16 years of professional dance experience, working in companies of different contexts. She now works as an educator, yoga instructor and international development worker.

Anna danced with the Polish National Ballet before completing her MA in Art specialising in dance teaching, and was a member of prestigious Studio Wayne McGregor from 2008 - 2016. She took part in all of the Studio’s creations, participated in numerous films, art installations and a variety of projects, which gave her an unparalleled opportunity for autonomous creativity at the highest level and an invaluable diversity of experience in her professional development.

Anna choreographed FLUX for the Malta Festival in Poland and V3 for Kings Place, London. After graduating from the Open University in Environment, International Development and Globalisation she continues to explore the role of arts and creativity cross-culturally in the globalised world. She continues to teach for several companies and schools, including Studio Wayne McGregor creative learning projects.

Joce Giles

After training at the Arts Educational School, London and the Royal Ballet School, Joce became a founder member of the Peter Schaufuss Ballet before joining Scottish Ballet in 1998.

Joce left Scottish Ballet in 2004 to take up the role of Dance Development Officer at The Works; the dance and theatre development agency for Cornwall. In 2007 Joce joined Rambert Dance Company as Head of Learning & Participation and was promoted to Director of Creative Projects in 2014, a role which oversaw the company's learning and participation and artist development works as well as programming public events at its South Bank studios.

From 2009 to 2011, whilst continuing to work full-time at Rambert, he was supported by DCD to study on the Cultural Leadership MA at City University, London.

Since the end of 2016 Joce has worked as the Director of Learning and Engagement at Sadler’s Wells.
