,"Thank you all so much for brilliant EVOLVE workshop. I really enjoyed my experience and I even took my notes from the day to the U.S. Tour with me, as they now are my top tips on how to handle the transformation process. Thank you again for your hard work and personal approach. DCD, you are one of a kind and very special organisation indeed. I feel privileged to be part of your support!,"
Eve Mutso, Principal Dancer, Scottish Ballet

Dancers' Career Development took EVOLVE, our unique workshop for all professional dancers, to Glasgow for the first time on Friday 1st May, in partnership with DCD Contributing Company, Scottish Ballet, Dance House Glasgow and The Work Room as part of Dance International Glasgow. Dancers were also able to access one to one consultations with Ellen Chambers, Grants and Careers Officer, and individual coaching sessions with Isabel Mortimer, DCD Director of Coaching, on Thursday 30th April at Scottish Ballet and Dance House Glasgow.

Both independent and Scottish Ballet company dancers joined us at EVOLVE to hear Transition Tales from DCD Retrained Dancers, former Scottish Ballet soloist, Diana Loosmore, and independent dancer Julius Ebreo (find out more about our speakers here), and take part in a range of activities designed specifically to support professional dancers to prepare for career transition, including reflecting on their achievements and exploring what to expect when making a significant life change.

We were delighted to be joined by Scottish Ballet dancers Rimbaud Patron, who photographed EVOLVE, and Lewis Landini, who is creating a film about EVOLVE Glasgow.

We extend our sincere thanks to our partners and everyone who made EVOLVE Glasgow happen.

,"I feel refreshed and ready to go forward.," Constance Devernay, Scottish Ballet dancer

Feedback from EVOLVE Glasgow

“I have learned that my emotions are shared by many other people, and that listening can help me to find my own way.”
Erik Cavallari, Principal Dancer, Scottish Ballet

“I enjoyed such an open and trusting environment.”
Lewis Landini, Scottish Ballet dancer

“I learnt that it’s totally normal to feel emotional about moving on from dancing, and to take baby steps in the right direction.”
Independent dancer

“To listen to others, opening up, working as a team, sharing and not being afraid is key. Being scared of change and transition is normal.”
Constance Devernay, Scottish Ballet dancer

“Sharing personal stories, feelings, anxieties etc. in a safe environment is really powerful. I’ve learned a number of things about myself and others today.”
